Alongside his Keinemusik crew &ME has had several incredibly successful years in the global electronic music space. The cinematic and emotive style of his house music has cemented his name as a local favourite too, with tracks like his remix of Guy Gerber’s What To Do being mainstays on radio stations and dancefloors alike. It seems only fitting then that his latest release features a rapidly rising South African voice in Jàs, who alongside his musical partner Alexander Inggs makes up the multi-instrumentalist group from Cape Town Atelier.
Titled Starting Again, the collaborative tracks finds its home on the B Side of &ME’s new 1995 EP. Immediately deep, but increasingly emotive, the song is a blissful meeting of Atelier’s atmospheric sound and &ME’s penchant for melodic focused anthems that steadily grow in stature, enveloping the listener in a journey that rewards those who stay till the end.
The track has already been played out by the likes of Black Coffee, Âme, Dixon, Damian Lazarus, Musumeci, Lehar and Mano Le Tough, a list of heavyweight support if ever there was one. You’d be ill advised to ignore Atelier in the coming months as they gear up to release a lot more music.
