Our Essential Five series returns with another deepstreet regular and Cape Town resident: Cya C Deep. The DJ, promoter and record label manager has been working solidly over the past few years to both establish himself as a DJ as well as push the local scene through hosting duties. He was just recently announced as the label manager for Rogue Decibels, a label pushing undiscovered house talent from across the country.
We asked him to select 5 tracks that helped shape his journey as a selector. Cya went deep into his collection here and brought out a lot of old school South African flavor before rounding things up with a more recent deep house burner.

1. Sia – Where I Belong (Wookie Remix)
“The song that made me fall in love with deep house, all the way back in 2004.”
Without truth we lose
Yet we want to spare the feelings of those we love
We’ve all lied but there is always room for forgiveness my friend
So don’t treat me bad
Just be glad I am strong
I know where I belong
And soon you will see we are blessed and complete
There’s a place here for you with me
See I will always have a smile for.
